Laurent-Marie Joubert - Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Nancy |

Joubert was born into a large family in Narbonne dans l’Aude in 1952, of a Beirut-born father who lived in the Middle East, and a mother from a family of market gardeners in the Var. His art education in Paris started at l’école des Arts appliqués et des métiers d’art, which was followed with time at Beaux-Arts de Paris. He travelled throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, at a time when society, following the Beat Generation to the road as a goal, or a life plan.
Joubert developed projects in different parts of the world: “Des Fleurs fauchées” in Japan, “Courtyard” in South Africa, “Blanket Project” in North Africa, “Hirsch Farm Project” in North America, and recently “Cavaliere y Nansha” in the Pearl River delta in China .
This intermingling of experience to what characterizes his current art practice: a sensitivity to history, memory, wanderlust, travel, and a certain difficulty to lay claim to a country or territory, as well as a great curiosity for the development of a culture of peace.
